And Yeshua came and said to them (his disciples), “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:18-20, ESV Yeshua was the ultimate missionary. As God, he came down from heaven to live among us as a man. He lived a life different from his nature. He preached an unambiguous message that the kingdom of God had come and people must repent and believe in the Gospel. He preached and ministered in his home area and as well as throughout Israel. We endeavor to do do the same. The "Great Commission" cited above is a reminder to us that wherever we are, we should be seeking to make disciples of those around us. For most believers, their mission field is their family, workplace, and neighborhood. Every believer is a minister/missionary of the Gospel. Sometimes God calls people to make disciples in other places. |
