Coherence is the name of our new effort to train and equip the people of God. I really don’t like soccer (sorry). This is not a putdown to the millions across the globe who love the sport. I’ve honestly tried to watch the World Cup; there surely are some exciting moments, but I lose interest after a few minutes.

Now there are those in the world who simply cannot accept that I am not into soccer. So they attempt to persuade me to see that soccer is the best sport around; I’m perfectly OK with this sort of “evangelism” but as of yet I have not become a “soccer disciple.” How have some argued for their sport?

The other day I was performing my good old American civic duty by tediously selecting candidates on my ballot in the recent CA elections. Did you ever get frustrated by trying to vote for people in some of the more obscure positions? You have no idea what the position responsibilities are, let alone who this person is who seeks office.

In particular, I get nervous selecting judges because we know so little about them (there is rarely anything important in the voter guide), and yet they have so much authority. I don’t want to pick a nutcase, so I read the websites of the candidates in my district (at least it is something …).

And something funny struck me this time.
